550 Parachute Cord
Parachute cord has many uses for the outdoors person.
550 Parachute cord (also known as paracord or 550 cord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope that had its origin during World War II. It was used as the suspension lines for the US paratroopers. Once the troops were in the field they found this cord to be very versatile and had many uses. Since then it has become a general purpose utility cord that is used by both military and civilian personnel. This cord has even found its way into outer space! It was used by our astronauts during STS-82, which was the second mission to repair the Hubble Telescope.
